ISTRIA, LIVADE (surroundings) - Stone antiquities with a panoramic view
Livade is a place in the heart of the Mirna valley, which developed a hundred years ago mainly thanks to the "Parenzana", a wine route that ran from Poreč to Trieste. At that time, Livade was a traffic and trading center for wine, olive oil and other agricultural products, and since white truffles were discovered in the Mirna valley in the 1920s, Livade became a center for the collection and distribution of this expensive mushroom.
"Tuberfest" is held in Livade every year during October, which is an exceptional opportunity to get to know and taste the Istrian white truffle, as well as prized wines, olive oils, cheeses, honey, brandy and other Istrian products. The gray clay soil of central Istria, the moist and shady Motovun forest - forest of St. Marka next to the river Mirna and the mild climate without large temperature differences provided an ideal habitat for the very picky Istrian white truffle, the largest and most valued of all truffles.
There are two stone houses with an enchanting view in the surroundings of interesting meadows.
